Lakes & Mountains Tour
The Lakes District, with its natural beauty
and exceptional landscape, has hosted the Austrian Emperor Franz-Josef
and his family for their summer holidays. Splendid hunts were held
here by Salzburg's Prince Archbishops. On this tour you will discover
the breathtaking beauty of one of Austria's most beautiful regions
- the lakes district - just beyond the gates of Salzburg. With a
view down to Salzburg, you begin the excursion to the scenic and
historical landmarks of the surroundings. The impressive hunting
castle Fuschl, where the Prince Archbishops spent many seasons, is
today a luxury hotel. In St. Wolfgang, there will be time to visit
the famous winged gothic altar by Michael Pacher and to stop at the
'White Horse Inn' for refreshments. From St. Wolfgang, you will travel
by boat (1 May- 26 Oct) or coach to St. Gilgen on the other side
of Lake Wolfgang. St. Gilgen is where Mozart's mother was born. Passing
Castle Huttenstein, you will continue along the Mondsee. The ever
changing and contrasting scenery will make this tour an unforgettable
memory. The tour ends at Mirabell Square.
