Itinerary:
Day 1 Vienna
Transfer by your own arrangements from Vienna airport or railway
station to your hotel. Vienna, a sophisticated and elegant city, will
soon make you feel at ease with its Austrian Gemutlichkeit - warmth
and friendliness. In the evening dine at the historic Griechenbeisl Inn.
Overnight in Vienna. D
Day 2 Vienna - Graz (2.5 hrs approx)
After breakfast, travel by rail to Graz and spend the afternoon at
leisure in a city that has many tales to tell. The Old Town is one of
the best preserved in central Europe. Travel on the Schlossbergbahn
to visit the Clock Tower, a highlight of any Schlossberg tour and the
symbol of the city. Its heart has been beating for Graz since 1712
- with the original works and one of the oldest bells in the province,
made in 1382. Overnight in Graz. B
Day 3 Graz - Salzburg (4.5 approx)
Today, travel by rail to Salzburg, the city of Mozart and Music. The
city will enchant you with its tiny, intriguing lanes, its magnificent
churches and monasteries and the wonderful Mirabell Gardens.
Salzburg is full of romantic charm and surprises. In the afternoon,
enjoy coffee and cake at Cafe Sacher and in the evening, attend the
Mozart Dinner Concert. Overnight in Salzburg. BD
Day 4 Salzburg
The day is yours to explore the city. Join the Grand Salzburg City
Tour which includes Hellbrunn Palace and a 24-hour Salzburg Card,
offering free admission to all major Salzburg sights and free travel on
all public transport within Salzburg city limits. Highly recommended
is an elevator ride up to the 'Winklerterrace' to enjoy the view over
the roofs of Salzburg. With all this history, perhaps it's time to bring
yourself back to the modern world with a visit to the Mönchsberg
Museum of Modern Art. Austria is not just about the past - it's a
vibrant, modern state with a respect for what has been, and a firm
gaze fixed to the future. Overnight in Salzburg. B
Day 5 Salzburg - Vienna (4 hours approx.)
After breakfast, take time to enjoy more of Salzburg. Perhaps the
optional day tour 'Original Sound of Music' may be of interest (4
hours, departs 9.30 a.m.). Make your way to Salzburg railway station
for your rail journey to Vienna.
On arrival in Vienna, you will be met at the railway station and
transferred to your hotel by private car. Overnight in Vienna.
Day 6 Vienna
Your Austrian Rail Adventure ends this morning. Consider spending
more time in Vienna to further explore this modern metropolis and its
imperial past.
