Legendary Danube Cruise

Begin your voyage with historic Prague, also called 'the city of a hundred Spires'. Celebrate the beauty and history of the Danube, Europe's second largest river. Journey from Nuremberg on the Main-Danube Canal across the Continental Divide, and along the way visit charming towns and marvel at beautiful vistas. Enter Austria and cruise through the lush Wachau wine region. Then conclude your European vacation with three grand old capitals - magnificent Vienna, charming Bratislava and vibrant Budapest.

Itinerary:

Day 1 (Thu) Arrive Prague, Czech Rep.
Arrive in Prague and transfer to your hotel (own arrangements). The rest of the day is yours to start exploring this beautiful city.

Day 2 (Fri) Prague
Your morning sightseeing reveals why Prague is considered to be one of Europe's most attractive cities. See thousand-year-old Hradcany Castle, the Old Town, the Jewish Ghetto and many other major sights. The afternoon and evening are free to mix with the locals at Wenceslas Square, shop for souvenirs or enjoy one of the charming café or restaurants. B

Day 3 (Sat) Prague
A relaxing day to stroll through a museum or gallery, wander along the banks of the Vltava River, relax at an outdoor restaurant or shop for local handicrafts and art work. B

Day 4 (Sun) Prague - Nuremburg (Germany)
Enjoy a free morning in Prague. After lunch, drive through the pastoral countryside to Nuremberg, the capital of Franconia. Tonight, gather on board for a Gala Welcome Dinner. The ship moors overnight in Nuremberg. BD

Day 5 (Mon) Nuremburg - Continental Divide
Enjoy a tour of historic Nuremburg with its fabulous Gothic churches and elegant patrician houses. See the 900-year-old ramparts that surround the city, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. At lunchtime, continue to transit the Main-Danube Canal as you arrive at the highest point of your cruise - 1,332 feet above sea level - before descending through stair-step locks. BLD

Day 6 (Tue) Regensburg - Danube Gorge
This morning takes you through the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal. Arrive in Regensburg. A tour will show you city's highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria - gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD. Continue cruising to Kelheim and embark on a boat trip through the beautiful Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Abbey. BLD

Day 7 (Wed) Passau - Linz (Austria)
After breakfast, arrive in Passau, where the rivers Inn and Iiz join the Danube. During your walking tour, gaze at this fairy-tale city founded more than 2,000 years ago. Or, take an optional full day tour to Salzburg and its most popular Sound of Music sights including the Wedding Church , exquisite Mirabell Gardens and the Great Salzburg Festival Hall. For those staying on board, enjoy a scenic cruise from Passau into Austria and on to Linz. BLD

Day 8 (Thu) Melk - Vienna
Cruise through the narrow Strudengau and reach the Wachau Valley early this morning. A tour takes you to Melk's magnificent Benedictine Abbey. At lunchtime, continue through the romantic Wachau Valley. Late this afternoon arrive in Vienna, the 'City of Music'. Tonight explore the vibrant Austrian capital on your own, or come along to an optional Mozart and Strauss concert. BLD

Day 9 (Fri) Vienna - Bratislava (Slovakia)
A tour of Vienna includes Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Opera House, Ringstrasse, and the awe-inspiring St. Stephen's Cathedral. At lunchtime, the ship departs Vienna and continues to Slovakia, A guided tour of Bratislava reveals the city's major sights including the Old Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and St. Martin's Cathedral. From 13th Century Bratislava Castle, you will enjoy breathtaking views overlooking three counties - Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. An eventful day is followed by an evening musical performance on board. BLD

Day 10 (Sat) Budapest (Hungary)
Morning sightseeing includes historic Buda Castle, where you have a splended view of the twin cities of Buda and Pest spread over both banks of the river. Your tour also features 500-year old Matthias Church, St. Stephen's Basilica, Fisherman's Bastion, the Royal Palace and more. Your afternoon is free. Tonight, gather on board for a Gala Farewell Dinner with Gypsy violinists. BLD

Day 11 (Sun) Depart Budapest
Your fascinating cruise comes to an end with your transfer to the airport for your flight home or to your next holiday destination. B
